Enhancement and Reshaping
Lip enchancment with dermal filler has become a highly popular treatment for women across all age groups. Popularised by celebrities and images on Instagram, full, voluminous lips are perceived to add another dimension of youthful sensuality and vivaciousness to your appearance.
But what if you don’t want the trout pout or big fat lips? At Restoration Clinic we harmonise lip rejuvenation with your face shape and your preferences
The Lips as a Key Feature of the Face:
When a person looks at a face, the features they observe the most are the eyes, the mouth and the nose. Lips convey much that you want to say and some things you may not. The smoothness, colour, volume, shape, amount of down-turning at the corners, and number of lines on the top of the lip all have connotations beyond genetic design and age related changes.
Although it may be thought that plump full lips are the ideal form, lips must match the face, so greater importance should fall on whether the lip shape is complementary to the face shape, and whether the volume proportionate, and the lips hydrated and healthy looking.
The other factor that greatly affects how the lips look are the lines and hollows in the immediate vicinity. Sometimes there is no problem with the lips except for lack of support from the surrounding tissues. As an artist would say, the canvas and the frame are as important as the picture. A holistic assessment of the face is important before determining how the look of your lips can be optimised.
It may be that you have some asymmetry you would like addressed, in which case it is important to examine whether this occurs at rest or on smiling or both, or you may feel your lips could be better shaped or you would like them to appear fuller.
All of these concerns can be addressed in multiple ways and an experienced Cosmetic Physician can help you find the best solution to achieve the look you want whilst remaining in keeping with proportion and balance.
If your concern is regarding hydration or skin quality of the lips there are even more solutions, with many hydrating or quality boosting agents available.
Improving the look of lips where there has been a history of injury or frequent coldsores can be a challenge but our experienced doctors are up to the task and the products available to soften skin and scarring are impressive.
Top lip lines occur due to muscle movement and loss of subcutaneous fat and surface damage to the skin but because of the other changes that occur with ageing that can cause lips to seem smaller and become inverted, treating top lip lines needs to be done in a minimalistic way so as not to further exacerbate inversion of the ageing lip.
Lips can lose their convexity as we age and this makes them appear smaller. They also can lose the sharpness of their outline but these two issues need to be addressed individually as the one can affect the other. Restoring the convexity of the lip in profile makes a big difference to the attractiveness of lips without changing their shape or height. Restoring the sharpness of the edge of the lip can do the same thing.
How much treatment needs to be done to get the best look for your lips depends on many factors, but certainly more may not be better. You’ll be amazed at how much we can do with how little at Restoration Clinic.

Many people simply wish for their lips to look nice and harmonious with their face, rather than having a specific idea about how to achieve this.
What they do know is that thin lips can make a person look mean, downturned mouth corners can make a person look grumpy or sad, and top lip lines get called smokers’ lines, which annoys people who have them but never smoked!
